Osteopatia a Palermo

L’osteopatia is a discipline that uses esclusivamente le mani to assess and treat movement restrictions in the body's tissues: joints, muscles, fasciae and connective structures. The underlying principle is that pain does not always arise where it is felt: tension in the cervical spine may originate from a jaw problem, and back pain may depend on an altered foot support.

How an osteopathy session works

The first visit always begins with listening: clinical history, tests already carried out, daily and working habits. The physical examination follows, with mobility tests and palpation of the areas involved. Only then is the treatment defined, using gradual manual techniques chosen according to the person's age and condition.

When to see an osteopath

The most frequent reasons for consultation are tension-type headaches, neck and low back pain, temporomandibular joint disorders, sciatica, painful shoulder and postural alterations. Osteopathy works alongside conventional medicine: it does not replace medical diagnosis, but supports the course of treatment by working on function.

Osteopathy and the stomatognathic system

An important part of my work concerns the relationship between mouth, jaw and posture. Bruxism, teeth clenching and TMJ dysfunction can produce persistent headaches and neck tension: treating the masticatory muscles, within a multidisciplinary programme alongside dentists and gnathologists, often brings a noticeable improvement.
